Honduras faces hurricane crisis alone

The President of Honduras, Carlos Flores, has said his country doesn't have the money it needs to rebuild and repair the damage caused by Hurricane Mitch last year.

President Flores said Honduras had to confront the crisis alone, he said international aid was slow in coming and the people of his country had to realise that the coming year was going to be particularly tough.

More than ten-thousand people died in Honduras alone in the devastating hurricane which swept through Central America last year.

The United States has said it will forgive most of the debts owed by Honduras and Nicaragua.

The World Bank has also given an additional one-billion dollars in credit to both countries.
