Man in court over student murder

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a university student in Manchester.

Christopher Kelly, of St John's Street, Pendlebury in Salford, appeared at the city's magistrates court on Tuesday.

He is charged with the murder of 19-year-old Manchester University student, Danny Davies, from Knowsley in Merseyside.

Mr Davies died in hospital two days after he was attacked in Manchester city centre on a night out with friends on 2 November.

Christopher Kelly made no application for bail and was sent to the crown court for a preliminary hearing on 27 November.
