Police warning over club's licence
Police feared the club could create problems
A nightclub in Stafford is to reopen despite a warning to local councillors from police.

A public entertainment licence has been granted to the club formerly known as Charisma.

Police told Stafford Borough Council that if the club in North Walls was reopened it could lead to an increase in problems associated with drink and drugs.

No trouble makers

However, the owner says the new venue will attract older customers compared with the previous club.

After hearing the new club would be aimed at older people, the council's public appeals committee granted the licence.

The owner, Paul McMahon, says he will rename the club The Office.

He said: "The make-up of clients is different, they really aren't trouble makers, these people don't take drugs, get drunk or shout in the street."
