Father's killing 'still a mystery'
Brian Hardwick
The father-of-two was shot dead at work
Police hunting the killer of a Bradford father-of-two have issued a fresh appeal for help, on the anniversary of his death.

Brian Hardwick, 50, died after being shot at close range in the head and chest in an execution-style murder 12 months ago.

Mr Hardwick was killed, apparently without motive, at his auto-electrical business in Huddersfield.

Someone out there knows who the killer is

Detetcive Superintendent Bob Bridgestock

Baffled detectives have so far interviewed more than 1,000 people.

But despite a £10,000 reward being offered by Mr Hardwick's business partner, no-one has yet been charged.

Police admit they are still no nearer to finding Mr Hardwick's killer.

Senior investigating officer, Detective Superintendent Bob Bridgestock, of West Yorkshire Police, said: "I know that someone out there knows who the killer is.

"They have kept quiet for a year - I don't know why - but I urge them to please contact the police.

"We have spoken to over 1,000 people and taken over 100 statements but we are still baffled as to why Brian was murdered."

Slumped by car

Mr Hardwick, of Wibsey, was last seen alive at Huddersfield Car Electrical Services in Colne Road at about 1730 GMT on November 21, 2001.

Police say his car tyre had been deliberately punctured and he was repairing it when he was shot in the head and chest.

Mr Hardwick, who had only married his wife Lynne a few months before his death, was also robbed of his brown leather wallet, a grey purse and a gold necklace.

His body was found slumped by his car the following morning.
