Fatal coach crash victims named
The coach was later taken away for examination
The final two victims of the M25 coach crash near Slough in Berkshire have been named by police.
Bernard Coppin, 62, and Norma Evans, 54, were among five people killed when the coach they were travelling in veered off the M25. The group had been returning from a day-trip to northern France on Saturday. Mr Coppin, of Drakes Broughton, Pershore, Worcestershire, and Ms Evans, of Badsey, Evesham, died with co-driver Graham Spring, 56, driver Christopher Sloane, 42, and Mr Sloane's wife Karen, 38, also from Evesham. Vehicle checked A further 40 people were injured, two of them remained in intensive care on Monday.
All the passengers were day-trippers from the Evesham area of Worcestershire. The coach crashed between junctions 15 and 16 on Saturday night. Police are still trying to find out the cause of the accident but said no other vehicle was involved. A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: "The coach involved in the incident is currently being examined as part of the police investigation into the causes of the crash." 'Transport nightmare' She added officers would be checking the vehicle to ensure it was mechanically sound, inspect the tachograph and check for any alcohol content in the bodies of the drivers during the post mortem tests. The coach firm - WR Spring and Son - is a family business based in Evesham and owned by victim Graham Spring. Mr Spring's sister, Pam, said: "It's just unbelievable. In 54 years, nothing has ever happened like this before. It's devastation. "It's transport's worst nightmare come true. Something we all dread because with transport you just don't know." The East Berkshire Coroner is due to open an inquest later this week.
