Football's world governing body, FIFA, says it's accepted a late bid from Nigeria to host the World Cup in the year 2006.
Formal bidding closed on December the thirty-first, but Nigeria's informal bid was formally accepted after the Nigerian football association submitted all the required paper-work.
Five of the eight bidding nations are now African.
The president of FIFA, Sepp Blatter, has openly supported the tournament being hosted in Africa.
A decision is expected in March 2000.
