Amnesty says, 'safeguard Afghan intellectuals'

The human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has called for urgent action to safeguard Afghans living in Pakistan who, it says, have received death threats from the Taleban.

Amnesty says prominent Afghan intellectuals and human rights activists -- most of them Pashtun -- have been warned to end their anti-Taleban activity.

It says the threats follow the assassination of at least four prominent Afghans late last year.
