A bridge in China collapses

. A bridge has collapsed in the southwest Chinese region of Chongqing killing at least twelve people; an unknown number of others are missing.

The Chinese news agency said more than twenty paramilitary police were on the bridge at the time as well as civilians.

Rescue teams picked up only a few survivors.

The steel bridge -- one hundred and eighty metres long -- was constructed by a private company three years ago.
