The main opposition party in Venezuela, Democratic Action Accion Democratica, has said it will campaign against plans by the President-elect, Hugo Chavez, to hold a referendum to elect a Constitutional Assembly.

Demoratic Action's leader, Carlos Canache, said that plans to reform Venezuela's political system through the creation of an assembly were unconstitutional.
