Girl hanged after row

An eight-year-old girl has died after she was found hanged by her skipping rope following a family row.

The girl's mother found her daughter in her bedroom of the family's home in Irlam, Greater Manchester. She alerted emergency services but attempts by paramedics to revive her failed.

The girl was pronounced dead in Salford's Hope Hospital late on Saturday night.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on Monday.

A spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances. The girl was said to have rowed with her mother and gone upstairs.

Her mother waited several minutes for her to calm down and went to her bedroom where she found her hanging.
