Tuesday, January 5, 1999 Published at 13:11 GMT UK Man in court over kidnap ![]() A man has been remanded in custody over the kidnapping of a mother and daughter as they walked their dog in a lane on New Year's Eve. Graham Anker, 43, of no fixed address, was remanded for three days by magistrates in Newton Abbot, Devon. He was charged with kidnapping a 48-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter, who cannot be named for legal reasons, at Netherton, near Newton Abbot. He was also charged with wounding the mother with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. It was alleged that the women were forced into a car and driven to a field, where the mother suffered knife wounds to her hands in a struggle. After the hearing, police appealed to people in the Babbacombe area of Torquay to be on the look-out for a tent, and a red, blue or green sleeping bag, and a rucksack, water bottle and mug. |
