Iran calls on Pakistan to punish the killers of Iranian diplomats

Iran's Foreign Minister, Kamal Kharrazi, has called on Pakistan to take action to punish those responsible for the killings of Iranians in Pakistan.

Mr Kharrazi issued his call during talks in Teheran with his Pakistani counterpart, Shamshad Ahmed.

Mr Ahmed expressed his determination to punish the killers and blamed "flaws" in the judicial system for the failure so far to do so.

Nine Iranian diplomats were killed, in August, when Taleban guerrillas overran the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif.

The two countries support opposing sides in the conflict in Afghanistan and relations between them are tense.

Iran pulled the bulk of its diplomatic staff out of Pakistan following the killings.
