Monday, January 4, 1999 Published at 09:59 GMT World: Africa Congolese rebels meet in Rwanda as rift grows The leaders of Congolese rebels fighting the government of Laurent Kabila are meeting officials from the supportive Rwandan adminstration today as the rebel movement continues to try to resolve its internal rifts. On Sunday they had talks with their principal backer, President Yoweri Museveni in Uganda. No details were given but the agenda included a possible shift of the rebels headquarters from the eastern town of Goma to the more central location of Kisingani, and splits within the rebel Congolese Rally for Democracy. Defectors from the government of Laurent Kabila, are reported to have accused their rivals, supporters of the former leader, Mobutu Sese Seko, of diverting army funds.
