An accident to the electricity system in Georgia has cut power supplies to much of the former Soviet republic.
Both domestic and business users were affected and the underground railway in the capital, Tbilisi, ground to a halt.
The Russian news agency, Itar-Tass, says power has now been restored to vital services in the city, and experts hope to restore electricity to the rest of the country within a few hours.
