Earthquake jolts southwestern China

An earthquake measuring five on the Richter scale has hit southwestern China.

It struck in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Yunnan province but there are no reports of any injuries.

Last November the area was hit by two quakes which killed five people and left tens of thousands homeless.

Earthquakes have also been reported in eastern Indonesia and near the New Zealand capital, Wellington.

There were no reports of injuries or damage in either place.
