The Turkish authorities say the army killed more than eighteen-hundred people described as separatist terrorists, last year, in operations in eastern and south-eastern Turkey.

They say more than three-hundred members of the security forces also died in the clashes with Kurdish separatists.

The Kurdish campaign for independence, which began in 1984, has so far claimed more than thirty-thousand lives.
