FA Cup team news

David O'Leary - hoping to avoid Cup embarrassment

Defensive problems continue to plague Leeds as they prepare to meet Vauxhall Conference side Rushden & Diamonds in the third round of the FA Cup.

David Wetherall's suspension follows injuries to Lucas Radebe, Martin Hiden and Robert Molenaar.

Leeds manager David O'Leary plans to use Alf Inge Haaland or Ian Harte alongside youngster Jonathan Woodgate in the centre of their back-line.

Rushden's biggest worry is in goal with American Ian Feuer suffering from a virus. Teenager Steve Cory is on stand-by.

Aston Villa v Hull

Villa midfielder Ian Taylor misses the game, but Alan Thompson returns from suspension. Striker Stan Collymore has shaken off an ankle knock.

Hull hope 'keeper Steve Wilson will be fit to play after a bout of flu and midfield man Brian McGinty has recovered from an Achilles tendon injury.

Blackburn v Charlton

Rovers await fitness reports on Tim Sherwood, Billy McKinlay, Callum Davidson and Jeff Kenna. Defender Darren Peacock is suspended and new £4.25m striker Ashley Ward is ineligible.

Andy Hunt is back in the Charlton squad after flu but there are worries about the fitness of Paul Mortimer, Matt Holmes and Keith and Steve Jones.

Bolton v Wolves

Bolton may recall club captain Gudni Bergsson, with Andy Todd and Greg Strong both ruled out.

The visitors will make a late decision on their line-up with Robbie Keane, Lee Naylor and Darren Ferguson suffering from flu and Simon Osborn, David Connelly and Steve Sedgley carrying knocks.

Bournemouth v West Brom

Striker Roger Boli is likely to come in the Bournemouth side, but skipper Ian Cox serves a one-match ban.

Albion's 26-goal striker Lee Hughes looks certain to play despite damaging teeth in a fall after a night out with friends.

Bradford v Grimsby

Goalkeeper Mark Prudhoe and midfielders Paul Bolland and Craig Ramage are added to the Bradford squad.

Grimsby's Stacy Coldicott and Tony Gallimore face fitness tests, but Lee Nogan, Daryl Clare and Lee Ashcroft are all absent.

Bristol City v Everton

Scotland international John Collins is in Everton's squad for the last time before undergoing a toe operation. Veteran Dave Watson returns to the squad, but striker Ibrahima Bakayoko (calf injury) is rated doubtful.

City will check on the fitness of Jim Brennan (thigh) and Tommy Doherty (knee) before the game.

Bury v Stockport

Half of Bury's squad have been on anti-biotics this week because of flu. Stockport have experienced striker Brett Angell back in their line-up, but Chelsea will not allow on-loan Paul Hughes to play.

Cardiff v Yeovil

Cardiff defender Jeff Eckhardt is expected to start for the first time in two months and Danny Hill may return in midfielder. Non-league Yeovil must manage without suspended Al-James Hannigan and Murray Fishlock.

Coventry v Macclesfield

Veteran 'keeper Steve Ogrizovic keeps his place for the home side. Manager Gordon Strachan may give Italian loan signing Stefano Gioacchini his debut up front.

A flu bug at Moss Lane means Macclesfield defender Darren Tinson may play even though he has knee ligament trouble. Stuart Whittaker hopes to shake off a back problem in time.

Crewe v Oxford

The home side are likely to be unchanged with Steve Macauley, David Walton and Steve Anthrobus still carrying injuries. Oxford winger Joey Beauchamp is available despite being red-carded in the league game with Portsmouth.

Leicester v Birmingham

Leicester midfielder Robbie Savage misses the game after damaging knee ligaments and recent signing Andy Impey faces a fitness test on a calf injury.

Birmingham are likely to include goalkeeper Kevin Poole against his former club.

Lincoln v Sunderland

Lincoln skipper Terry Fleming and 'keeper John Vaughan hope to recover from illness in time to play. First Division leaders Sunderland may include prolific scorer Kevin Phillips among their subs.

Newcastle v Crystal Palace

Magpies striker Duncan Ferguson is in the squad despite struggling with a groin injury. French defender Didier Domi, who joined from Paris St Germain, is unavailable until next week.

Chinese duo Fan Zhiyi and Sun Jihai are set to sample the Fa Cup for the first time for Palace in an unchanged team.

Nottingham Forest v Portsmouth

Forest will field an unchanged team if Steve Chettle and Chris Bart-Williams declared themselves fit. Pierre van Hooijdonk completes a three-match ban.

Pompey must manage without defender Andy Awford, who will be out for six weeks following a cartilage operation. Alan McLoughlin and Alan Knight may return.

Oldham v Chelsea

Chelsea have midfielder Dennis Wise back in the squad after serving a three-match ban. Dan Petrescu is suspended after picking up five bookings.

Oldham midfielder Toddy Orlygsson has failed a fitness test on a knee injury, so Paul Reid or Richard Graham may deputise.

Plymouth v Derby

Derby travel to Home Park without eight first-team regulars. Striker Deon Burton is back from a loan spell at Barnsley and defender Danny Porter is in the senior squad for the first time.

Argyle have Ronnie Mauge available again and Sean McCarthy (knee) and Micky Heathcote (back) hope to be fit.

QPR v Huddersfield

Steve Slade or Chris Kiwomya could come into the Rangers attack. Huddersfield midfielder Chris Beech is Cup-tied and Lee Richardson and Jon Dyson have injury problems.

Rotherham v Bristol Rovers

Rotherham striker Rob Scott could be out for four months after dislocating a shoulder. Paul Dillon and Neil Richardson are pressing for recalls, while Rovers player-boss Ian Holloway may miss the game with a broken nose.

Sheffield United v Notts County

Former Chelsea and Everton midfielder Graham Stuart is set to return for The Blades. Justin Jackson or Tony Garcia will replace on-loan Kim Grant in County's attack.

Southampton v Fulham

Mark Hughes returns to the Southampton team to compensate for the absence of Matt Le Tissier (thigh). Stuart Ripley, Claus Lundekvam and Scott Hiley have all been troubled by flu this week.

Fulham may recall midfielder Wayne Collins, who is fit again after an Achilles problem. Steve Finnan and John Salako have flu.

Southport v Leyton Orient

Home striker Lee Trundle is Cup-tied and they will also be without midfielder Jim Dobbin. Orient's Matty Lockwood has recovered from a knock and Carl Griffiths is also back in the squad.

Swindon v Barnsley

Swindon's top scorer, Iffy Onuora, is doubtful with an ankle problem, so George Ndha stands by. Barnsley's Brude Dyer has an abdominal problem and defender Chris Morgan has been hit by the flu bug.

Tottenham v Watford

Norwegian striker Steffen Iversen is back for Spurs after suffering a fractured jaw against Liverpool on December 5. He replaces suspended Chris Armstrong.

Nigel Gibbs and Clint Easton are added to the Watford squad on duty for Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Norwich.

Tranmere v Ipswich

Gary Jones, Dave Challinor and Scott Taylor are available for Tranmere, but four other players face fitness checks. Ipswich recall Bobby Petta and Adam Tanner, but Kieron Dyer (thigh) may miss out.

West Ham v Swansea


Swansea boss John Hollins 'We're pretty solid'
The Hammers have defender Neil Ruddock available again following suspension, but flu victim Frank Lampard could miss out.

Swansea hope to have midfielder Richard Appleby back after mssing the win over Barnet with an ankle injury.

Wimbledon v Manchester City

Carl Leaburn is likely to keep his place in Wimbledon's attack despite being substituted against Leeds in midweek and seeing replacement Carl Cort score in a 2-2 draw.

City defender Andy Morrison has recovered from flu and Shaun Goater may start in attack.

Wrexham v Scunthorpe

Wrexham's on-loan striker Terry Cooke is ineligible so veteran Ian Rush will play in attack. Centre-back Russ Wilcox (foot injury) is Scunthorpe's only serious concern.
