An avalanche has swept down on to a remote village in north-eastern Canada, killing at least six people during a New Year celebration.
Four people are missing and a number of others were injured.
The avalanche crashed into a gymnasium in the Inuit village of George River, on Ungava Bay, where several hundred people had been seeing in the New Year.
Blizzards have hampered efforts by the Canadian authorities to send in rescue planes.
