Pro-democracy protest in H.Kong

Hundreds of protestors have marched through the streets of Hong Kong to press demands for Beijing to release jailed dissidents and allow more democracy.

The demonstrators were protesting against the jailing of three dissidents Xu Wenli, Qin Yongmin and, Wang Youca who were sentenced to terms of between eleven and thirteen years last month for trying to set up an alternative political party to the Communists.

A BBC correspondent in Hong Kong says the pro-democracy march has become a regular event and its organisers are planning a special series of protests this year to mark the tenth anniversary of the suppression of pro-democracy protests in Beijing.
