Conflicting reports are emerging about an incident on Tuesday involving a group of gunmen in the Khorezm region of eastern Uzbekistan.

Turkmen media reported that three Uzbek and three Turkmen security officals had been killed as the group tried to cross from Uzbekistan into Turkmenistan.

The Uzbek Interior ministry now says two Uzbek border officials were wounded and that the gunmen had been trying to cross from Turkmenistan into Uzbekistan.

One man, believed to be an Uzbek citizen has been arrested so far.

A joint investigation set up by the presidents of both countries has been set up.
