Hindu extremists blamed for deaths in southern Indian violence

Another three people have died in a second day of violence between Hindu and Muslim youths in the southern Indian state of Karnataka.

The three men were all stabbed to death in separate incidents in and around the coastal town of Suratkal.

Two people were killed yesterday.

At least twenty-five people have been injured and cars and shops have been burnt.

The state's Chief Minister, J.H. Patel, has blamed Hindu extremists for the trouble, and said that his government would take action against them.

Mr Patel has gone to Suraktal to supervise the security operation.
