Missing Japanese ship 'found' in China


The Chinese authorities say that a Japanese-owned cargo vessel which went missing in the Straits of Malacca three months ago has turned up at a port in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu.

Chinese officials say the vessel called the Tenyu was found with a crew ofIndonesians and bearing a new name.

The original crew of twelve Chinese and two South Koreans remain unaccounted for.

Officials say the ship has been impounded at the request of its owners, and an investigation is underway.
