China slams US technology report


China has criticised a report by the United State Congress which concluded that some American technology transfers to China harmed US national security.

The report found that sensitive technology -- including satellite and missile knowhow -- had been provided to the Chinese, and it made a number of recommendations to remedy the situation.

A foreign ministry spokesman in Beijing said the report was groundless and irresponsible.

He said the normal exchange of trade and technology and was in the interests of both China and the United States.
