Further clashes between Hindus and Muslims in Indian Karnataka

Police in the southern Indian state of Karnataka have fired on rioters who tried to block the Mangalore-to-Goa highway after further clashes between Hindus and Muslims in the town of Suraktal.

Police say there were no casualties when they opened fire.

Earlier though fifteen people were injured in stone throwing between members of a Hindu organisation the Hindu Sena and a group of Muslims.

The incident follows similar tension between students in the area earlier this month.
