Wednesday, December 30, 1998 Published at 22:26 GMT UK Man held over mummified body ![]() Police are questioning a man in Ipswich A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a mummified body in a park. The body was found in a green sleeping bag on 18 December by a man walking his dog in Fen Meadow, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
It is believed to be that of 25-year-old Steven Burt, who has been missing for several years. But police have given no details of his relationship with the man being questioned. Forensic tests The man was arrested in Woodbridge town centre on Wednesday morning and has been taken to Ipswich police station for questioning. His empty house in Woodbridge, has been sealed off for a forensic examination. The exact cause of death is not known because of the state of the body. Detective Superintendent Dave Corderoy said: "Scientific tests are still being carried out to establish the identity of the man. "However, from information we have, including height, the sleeping bag and tags, we now believe this man to be Mr Burt." |
