Burglars throttle woman
Police car
The 72-year-old was pinned down on the floor
A pensioner is recovering after she was pinned down and grabbed round the throat by teenage burglars.

The 72-year-old was so distressed by the incident at her Cheshire home her doctor had to be called, said police officers.

Cheshire Police said on Tuesday the woman had been watching television at 2115 GMT on Monday when the four burglars broke in through a window.

The teenagers searched the lounge of the house in Faraday Road, Whitby, before going into the woman's bedroom.

Police were told one held the woman down while another put his hands round her throat.

The other two then searched the room and stole jewellery.
