Thai elephants return from Indonesia

Following a successful campaign by animal rights activists, five elephants have been shipped home to Thailand, after being stranded in Indonesia for over a year.

Hundreds of well-wishers greeted them with gifts of food and flowers on their arrival in the port of Phuket.

The elephants were sent to Indonesia to help forestry workers round up wild elephants in Sumatra, but the project collapsed due to financial problems brought on by Indonesia's economic crisis
