Indonesia rules out Suharto extradition


The government of Indonesia has ruled out the possibility of former president Suharto being extradited.

A group of Portuguese lawyers has said it wants to file an extradition request in relation to abuses by the military that took place in East Timor.

Indonesia's justice minister Muladi said there is no extradition treaty with Portugal, and added that Indonesia has would have the responsibility to try Suharto if he was involved in any crimes.
