Congo Brazzaville and the Democratic Republic of Congo have signed a non-aggression pact.

A statement issued in Brazzaville after talks between President Denis Sassou-Nguesso and President Laurent Kabila, said the two leaders agreed not to resort to force against one another's countries, nor to encourage the use of their territories to support hostile acts against neighbouring countries.

The statement said the two leaders also agreed to establish a joint force to guarantee border security for their countries.
