More immigrants smuggled into Florida

United States officials say at least thirty-five more Cubans landed in Miami and surrounding areas during Tuesday.

This brings the number of immigrants smuggled into south Florida since Friday to nearly one-hundred-and-twenty.

US Border Patrol agents say they believe smugglers are trying to bring more people in than usual, believing that the coast would be lightly staffed during the Christmas holiday.

The illegal immigrants, mainly from Cuba and Haiti, pay several thousand dollars each to the smuggling gangs.
