Delhi police report on clash deaths
Police in the Indian capital, Delhi, have released the results of post-mortem examinations carried out on the bodies of two people shot dead by security men at a busy shopping complex last week.
Police officials said the report confirmed that the two suspected Islamic militants had died in an exchange of fire. Serious doubts had earlier been raised over the police version of events. A doctor Hari Krishna who said he was present when the incident took place, denied there had been a shoot-out between the police and the alleged militants. But after releasing the report, police said traces of gun powder found on the hands of the two men established that the two had fired at them. (From the newsroom of the BBC World Service) |
