Four of the dead were members of a family buried by a landslide Monday morning in Duren village in Banjarnegara regency, about 340 km (210 miles) south-east of Jakarta. The fifth victim was a 30-year-old woman whose body was found later on Monday after she was swept away by the Cirongkang river in the nearby district of Banyumas, the official Antara news agency reported. "We are still gathering information from four other regencies hit by the floods," Mr Sarkowi said, adding that hundreds of hectares of farmland, mainly paddy and cassava fields, were also damaged. Mr Sarkowi said that the rain had eased since Monday, and flood waters had begun to recede. |
