Woman killed in three-car smash
Wrecked car
The road was closed while wreckage was cleared
A woman has died after a pile-up on the A30 in Cornwall.

Corporal Kerry Richardson, 20, a Royal Air Force police dog handler, was killed while returning to her base at RAF St Mawgan.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident which happened at Dunheved Bridge, near Launceston.

Police believe the accident may have been caused by a vehicle driving the wrong way down the westbound carriageway.

Helicopter flight

Corporal Richardson's family travelled to Cornwall from their Croydon home after hearing of the tragedy.

The accident occurred just after 2200 GMT on Sunday.

A man who suffered serious head injuries in the crash was flown to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose.

Two other people suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for eight hours while the wreckage was cleared and investigations were carried out.

Police officers were helped at the scene by service personnel, who were travelling along the road in a convoy of military lorries when the accident took place.

They also provided lights to enable the police to work through the night.
