Sex discrimination officers compensated
Caroline Arrowsmith was sent abusive messages
Lancashire Police have agreed to pay compensation to two female officers who were victims of sexual discrimination.
The money, to be paid to former undercover detectives Caroline Arrowsmith and Laura Burman, is believed to total at least £200,000. The exact amount has not been made public. A tribunal ruled last year that the two women were discriminated against by a group of male colleagues.
Lancashire Police had disputed the case, and claimed the women had lied to get more compensation. But the tribunal ruled against the force in July 2001. A confidentiality clause has been signed to prevent the exact amount of compensation from being disclosed.
