Committee approves Israeli election date

The constitution and law committee of the Israeli parliament has approved plans to hold the general election on May the seventeenth.

The date was agreed by the government and opposition yesterday Monday.

It's expected to be confirmed by the full parliament on Monday.

A bill to hold early elections passed its first reading last week after the government failed to secure a majority over ts handling of the peace process with the Palestinians.
