Man jailed for toddler attack
Edinburgh Sheriff Court
Angus was sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Court
A man has been jailed for 30 months for a "barbaric" assault on a toddler.

Frank Angus, 28, repeatedly hit the two-year-old boy after his screaming interrupted a video game he was playing.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard Angus threw the child onto a sofa, held him down with one hand and hit him repeatedly with the other.

The boy was taken to hospital suffering from bruising to his head, arms and legs.

Angus, of Wester Hailes Park, Edinburgh, told the court he shouted at the boy because he could not hear the television over his screaming.

He admitted spanking the child, but denied assault on 24 November last year.

Sheriff John Horsburgh, QC, described the assault as "barbaric" and said the only appropriate sentence was a custodial one.
