Woman killed in three-car smash
Police are investigating the cause of the crash
A woman has died after a pile-up on the A30 in Cornwall.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident which happened at Dunheved Bridge, near Launceston. Police believe the accident may have been caused by a vehicle driving the wrong way down the westbound carriageway. The dead woman, who works in Cornwall but has family in Croydon, has not been named. Head injuries The accident occurred just after 2200 GMT on Sunday. A man who suffered serious head injuries in the crash was flown to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth by a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose. Two other people suffered minor injuries. The road was closed for eight hours while the wreckage was cleared and investigations were carried out. Police officers were helped at the scene by service personnel, who were travelling along the road in a convoy of military lorries when the accident took place. They also provided lights to enable the police to work through the night.
