River hunt resumes for missing boy
Culham Lock at Sutton Courtenay, near Abingdon
Police and divers searched the river near Culham Lock
A search is resuming for a 12-year-old boy thought to have fallen in the Thames in Oxfordshire.

It is feared Nathan Monaghan from Didcot toppled into the river at Culham Lock at Sutton Courtenay, near Abingdon, while on a fishing trip with a friend.

Bad weather hampered Thames Valley Police's search for the boy on Sunday, forcing the force's helicopter to remain grounded.

Police said divers would resume their search on Monday afternoon and the Environment Agency would provide boats to assist with the search.

Nathan has been missing since Saturday

The boy's family, who are being comforted by friends and a police liaison officer, agreed for his named to be released on Monday.

Nathan had been fishing with his friend, also aged 12, on Saturday when it is believed he fell off a weir and hit his head.

The friend immediately raised the alarm and police began a major search operation.

During Sunday, divers from the underwater search unit were able to carry out a two-hour operation but without success.

Thames Valley Police called in officers from Abingdon, Didcot and Wantage to help find the boy.
