The vehicle rolled along the Whitewell Road
A man has been charged with attempted robbery following an incident in which an oil tanker careered out of control in north Belfast.

He was released on bail to appear in court on 5 December.

Two other men have been released pending further enquiries.

The incident happened on the Whitewell Road on Saturday morning.

The fuel tanker, containing several tonnes of oil, careered driverless down the road and across the Shore Road, where it came to a halt.

Three cars were damaged in the incident. The tanker struck one of them as it was travelling down the road.
