Monday, December 28, 1998 Published at 11:07 GMT Sport Red Rum jockey 'stable' ![]() Red Rum completes his third National win in 1977 Former jockey Tommy Stack is continuing to receive treatment at an Irish hospital after being rushed there in a critical condition. The 53-year-old, who rode Red Rum to his historic third Grand National victory in 1977, is suffering from a viral infection and was taken to hospital in County Cork at the weekend. A spokeswoman for the Thomastown Castle yard, where Stack works as a trainer, said on Monday: "They have told us he is stable this morning but that's all we know." Stack was twice champion jump jockey in 1974-5 and againt two years later. He took a trainer's licence 12 years ago and won the 1,000 Guineas with Las Meninas in 1994 and this year's Irish 1,000 with Tarascon. |
