A rescue helicopter was called to the scene
Police have named a man who died after falling from Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain, while walking with friends.

James Thomas Smith, 57, from Havercroft in Wakefield, had been with two friends when the accident occurred at around 1700 GMT on Saturday.

Lochaber mountain rescue team together with a helicopter from RAF Lossiemouth, 90 miles away, rushed to the scene.

Mr Smith was airlifted from an area of path known as the zig zags to nearby Fort William, where he was pronounced dead.
