Bethany Wilson was born on 16 December to parents Mick and Sue, who had been told to expect a girl after scans. Mr Wilson, of Ockbrook, near Derby, said: "We just couldn't believe it when she was delivered. "The doctors did tell us after a scan that it would be a girl but we just assumed the equipment had gone wrong or the results had been misinterpreted. "My granddad knows as far back as about 1825 and he has never known anything but lads in the family." Mrs Wilson was equally delighted. "It's every mum's dream to have a girl because you've got a friend for life," she said. The couple's six-year-old son Riki is reportedly pleased because he will not have to share his Action Man with the new arrival. Great-grandfather Len Wilson, 92, said: "After two sons, four grandsons and three great-grandsons, I'm thrilled to get a great-granddaughter." |
