Woman dies after third raid

Eileen Harvey: Robbed twice in a year

Police have appealed for help to catch a gang of thieves following the death on Christmas Day of a deaf and blind 93-year-old woman - a week after she was robbed in her own home.

The BBC's Peter Diapre reports
Eileen Harvey died at a friend's house after her Christmas cash was stolen by conmen from her home in Buckland, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Mrs Harvey had also been targeted by conmen in July.

On both occasions they tricked their way into her house telling her they needed to check something in her back yard, stealing £800 the first time and £300 on the second occasion.

Mrs Harvey was also robbed by a different gang more than a year ago.

Police say the emotional trauma of the thefts may have been a factor in her death.

Inspector Pat Saunders of Hampshire Police, said: "She was a very frail old lady, and found the crimes committed against her very traumatic."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire Police on 01962 841500.
