Police have launched a major murder inquiry
A man at the centre of a major murder investigation was shot dead, police have said.

The body of John Shippam, 25, was discovered by officers called to a council flat in Nottingham by a neighbour at 1045 GMT on Thursday.

A post mortem examination carried out by a Home Office pathologist on Friday showed the man had died from gunshot wounds.

It is believed Mr Shippam, who was single, had only moved into the flat in Chiltern Way, Bestwood Park, a few weeks before and was living with several other people.

Police have launched what they described as a "major murder investigation" and an incident room has been set up for the inquiry.

Anyone with information about the killing is urged to contact police on 0115 953 1110.
