Museveni in Libya for talks

The Ugandan president, Yoweri Museveni, has flown to Tripoli for talks with the Libyan leader, Colonel Gadaffi.

Colonel Gaddafi has been actively involved in efforts to resolve the Congolese conflict and the two leaders are due to discuss the peace process in the Great Lakes region.

It is not clear whether Mr Museveni will meet the Congolese president, Laurent Kabila, who is in Tripoli for what is described as an urgent working visit.

Mr Museveni's trip violated the UN air embargo against Libya imposed in 1992.

The Oraganisation of African Unity has said it will not observe the flight ban.
