Hindu ultras continue demos against film

Hundreds of activists of the right-wing Hindu nationalist party, Shiv Sena, staged demonstrations against screening of the film "Fire" in the north Indian cities of Kanpur and Varanasi Police said five activists were hospitalised after police directed water cannons at them during a demonstration outside a cinema in Kanpur.

The Shiv Sena says the film, which depicts a lesbian relationship, goes against the Indian cultural ethos.
