Bangladesh industry says economy is on decline

The business community in Bangladesh says the economy has been showing a downward trend.

After a meeting in the capital, Dhaka, the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry FBCCI criticised the government for failing to provide support to industries affected by recent floods.

Businessmen also complained about extortion and frequent general strikes called by political parties.

The Federation called on the government to establish a land and air route with north-eastern India as a way of bosting trade with its neighbour.
