Rwanda comments on postponed Congo meeting

The Rwandan government says it is not to blame for the postponed regional talks aimed at halting the fighting in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Rwandan Foreign minister, Anastase Gasana, said that Rwanda supported the peace efforts.

He suggested that the date of the talks, scheduled to take place on Monday in the Zambian capital, Lusaka, may have posed difficulties.

Zambian officials gave no reason for the delay, announced on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Libyan television said that the Congolese president, Laurent Kabila, is in Tripoli for what it described as an urgent working visit.

The Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, has been actively involved in efforts to resolve the Congolese conflict.
