John Newport, aged 77, and his wife Ruth, 76, were last seen in Chobham in Surrey late on Tuesday.

They were meant to be taking a 30-minute journey back to their home in Warfield, near Bracknell in Berkshire, but never arrived.

Police located the couple at a pub in Harrow, north west London, where the couple had been staying since their car broke down on Tuesday.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said the couple appeared to have become confused and disorientated during their journey.

"The couple are safe and well and are now in touch with their family", added the spokesman.
