Sudanese rebels say they have recaptured a key town and an airstrip in the remote Nubah Mountains of south-central Sudan after two days of fierce fighting against government forces.
Officials of the Sudan People's Liberation Army SPLA were quoted as saying that the town of Koya, and the most important airstrip in the highlands, roughly five hundred kilometres south of the capital, Khartoum, had been captured early on Thursday.
